- Sizing – Sizing varies in different countries and stores, so please measure your model before picking your size. The ready-to-wear size your model normally fits into may be different from our size chart.
- Picking your size – Choose your size using the waist measurements in the size chart. If your measurements fall into different sizes, use the layers feature to print those sizes, then grade between the sizes by drawing a smooth line. Start from your chest, grading out or in, to your waist.
- Height adjustment – Each size has been drafted for a height range. The bottom of the Apron sits at the knee. Check the center front length measurements against your measurement. You can tighten or loosen the ties to adjust the height of the Apron. If you need to adjust more than that, adjust at the hem.
- Muslin – To ensure you get the best fit, sew a muslin. A muslin is a test version of the pattern in an inexpensive fabric. To make a muslin for this Apron:
- Check the fabric recommendations and use a fabric with the same properties as your final one. You do not need to cut out and sew the full garment.
- Cut out the pieces out and label each piece with tailor’s chalk / fabric pen.
- Baste these together using a ½ inch seam allowance.
- Try on. If happy with the fit, continue to the final garment.
- If you feel the fit needs adjusting for your personal shape, turn the muslin inside out and try on again.
- Adjust the seams with pins until you are happy and then baste.
- Trim your new seam allowances to ½ inch and pull out your basting stitches.
- Use these bits of fabric as your pattern pieces instead of the original pattern pieces. Continue to sew your final garment.
- Make sure to keep your adjusted pattern pieces. It is like having a tailor-made garment, so they are a valuable addition to your pattern library in case you wish to make more!
- If you get stuck with fitting, see our favorite resources on our Pinterest Sewing Fitting Advice board.
- OPTIONAL Ties – You can use 1-inch wide webbing/tape for the Ties instead of sewing them using the pattern pieces. Examples are cotton herringbone tape or webbing.
- Thread to match
- Apron – Fabric cut 1 on fold
- Ties – Fabric cut 2
- Tie Channel – Fabric cut 2 (1x mirror image pair)
- OPTIONAL Top Pocket – Fabric cut 1
- OPTIONAL Large Pocket – Fabric cut 1
- OPTIONAL Hanging Loop – Fabric cut 1

Our Facebook group is a great place to get help, share your tips and creations! We are a friendly bunch, and we love to help and see what you have made.
Please read the full instructions before getting started.
Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Fitting NotesMaterials and ToolsFabric – You can use any light to medium weight woven fabric e.g. cottons, canvas, denim, linen. If you are working around flames or materials that spark, you could use leather. Cotton does not protect you against cooking hazards or heat. Denim and linen are slightly more heat durable and will last a lot longer. If you need a waterproof apron you would need a nylon fabric.

* If you are using a narrower fabric, a directional print, or a fabric with nap you may need more.
** Make sure to wash, dry, and press all fabrics before cutting out in case they shrink. You will also need:
Tools needed are, sewing machine, pins, scissors, tape measure or ruler. Serger/overlocker is optional but not required.
Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.
Please follow this video for information and assistance on assembling this pattern.
Also, please note that some Rebecca Page patterns and projects also come with cut files and a printable design page which you can use to plan your project if you wish. These are provided in a separate section below to avoid any confusion!

Cutting Checklist:NOTE – To cut fabric on the fold, fold your fabric over parallel to the selvage edges. Align the pattern piece so it is on the fold of the fabric. Cut around the edges, leaving the fold. If you have folded your fabric correctly the fold will be parallel to the two edges of the fabric that are finished. The raw edges (e.g. the ones you could pick at and threads would come off) will be at a right angle to your fold.

1 . OPTIONAL Hanging Loop1.0If you are adding the OPTIONAL Hanging Loop, follow below. If not, skip to step 2.
1.1If you are familiar with making double fold bias tape, please use this. If not, don’t worry, just follow along here!
Fold the OPTIONAL Hanging Loop in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Press.
1.2Open the Loop and fold the two long sides into the middle. Press.
1.3Refold the Loop along the center edge, folding the raw edges to the inside. Press.
1.4Topstitch the open side using a ⅛ inch seam allowance.
1.5OPTIONAL: Topstitch the folded long side using a ⅛ seam allowance.
1.6Find and mark the center of the Apron. Place the Loop onto the Apron, right sides together, ½ inch on either side of the center of the Apron.
1.7Baste using a ¼ inch seam allowance.
TIP – Basting is just like normal stitching except the stitches need to be long and loose so that they can be removed later, if needed. Stitch within the seam allowance, so that the basting stitches are not seen in the final garment, while keeping the stitches loose enough to pull out just in case they are visible. The purpose is to hold a piece of fabric in place until that section is properly sewn. Set the machine to a long loose stitch. Test it on a piece of fabric first to make sure that the stitches can easily be removed. Do not backstitch at either end. Leave the ends loose, with approximately 1 inch of thread tails at either end of the stitching.
2 . Neckline2.0SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Serge the neckline without removing any seam allowance. Fold the neckline ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press. Fold again 1 inch. Press. Topstitch using a ⅛ seam allowance. Then skip to step 3.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
2.1Lay the Apron wrong side facing up. Fold the neckline ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
2.2Fold another 1 inch to the wrong side, enclosing the raw edges. Press.
2.3Topstitch using a ⅛ seam allowance from the folded edge.
3 . Sides3.0SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Serge the sides of the Apron without removing any seam allowance. Fold the sides ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press. Repeat. Topstitch using a ⅛ seam allowance. Then skip to step 4.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
3.1Lay the Apron wrong side facing up. Fold a side edge ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
3.2Fold another ¼ inch. Press.
3.3Topstitch using a ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge.
3.4Repeat steps 3.1 to 3.3 on the other side of your Apron.
4 . Hem4.0SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Serge the hem without removing any seam allowance. Fold the hem ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press. Fold again 1 inch. Press. Topstitch using a ⅛ seam allowance. Then skip to step 5.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
4.1Lay the Apron wrong side facing up. Fold the bottom edge ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
4.2Fold another 1 inch. Press.
4.3Topstitch using a ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge.
5 . Tie Channel5.0SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Serge the two short edges of the Tie Channel without removing any seam allowance. Then follow below.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
5.1Fold a short end of the Tie Channel ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
5.2Fold again ¼ inch. Press
5.3Topstitch using a ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge.
Repeat steps 5.1 to 5.3 on the other short edge of the Tie Channel.
5.4Fold the longer curved edge over to the wrong side by ¼ inch. Press. This will create a memory hem.
NOTE – A memory hem is where you fold and press your hem, but do not actually stitch it yet. We do this so that fold lines are pressed into the Tie Channel. It is much easier to do this now, than to try and press the Tie Channel hem later when it is stitched to the Apron.
5.5Place the Tie Channel onto the Apron, right sides facing, matching raw edges. Pin.
NOTE – You are attaching the opposite shorter curved edge to the memory hem.
TIP – Use lots of pins to attach the two curved edges together.
5.6Stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance.
TIP – Stitch slowly along the curves so that the edges stay together, and you get a nice finish.
5.7Trim the seam allowance approximately in half.
Snip into the seam allowance every half inch, just up to, but not through the stitch line. This will create a nicer curve.
5.8Flip the Tie Channel over to the wrong side of the Apron. Press. Pin the memory hem.
5.9Topstitch using ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge, creating a channel.
5.10Repeat steps 5.1 to 5.9 with the second Tie Channel piece.
6 . Tie6.0SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Place the two Ties right sides together, matching short ends. Pin. Serge using a ½ inch seam allowance. Press seam to one side. Fold the Tie in half lengthwise, right sides together. Pin one short edge and the long raw edge. Serge using a ½ inch seam allowance. Then follow step 6.6.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
6.1Place the two Ties right sides together, matching short ends. Pin.
6.2Stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance.
6.3Press the seam allowance open.
6.4Fold the Tie in half lengthwise, right sides together. Pin one short edge and the long raw edge.
6.5Stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance.
NOTE – You are leaving one short edge unstitched for turning.
6.6Turn your Tie right way out. Press. If you have a favorite method to do this, please use it. Alternatively, here is how I like to do it.
TIP – It is best to use a blunt object like a chopstick.
Open the seam allowance stitched in step 6.5. Insert the chopstick until it reaches the stitching.
Push the Tie over the chopstick, pushing the Tie all the way over the chopstick, until it is turned right side out. Push the chopstick back out through the gap.
6.7Fold the open short edge ½ inch inside the Tie and pin. Press the whole Tie.
6.8Topstitch all edges using a ⅛ seam allowance.
7 . OPTIONAL Pockets7.0If you are not adding OPTIONAL Pockets, skip to step 8. There are two OPTIONAL Pockets to choose from. There is a small Top Pocket and a larger Bottom Pocket. The steps are the same for both Pockets.
SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Serge your Pocket without removing any seam allowance. Fold the top edge ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press. Fold again 1 inch. Press. Fold the remaining three sides ½ inch to the wrong side. Press. Place at pattern markings. Pin. Topstitch using a ⅛ seam allowance. OPTIONAL Large Pocket: follow step 7.7. Then skip to step 8.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – Follow below.
7.1Lay the Pocket wrong side facing up. Fold the top edge ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
NOTE – For the Bottom Pocket, the top edge is one of the longer edges. For the Top Pocket it is one of the shorted edges.
7.2Fold over 1 inch to the wrong side. Press.
7.3Topstitch using a ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge.
7.4Fold the other three sides over to the wrong side by ½ inch. Press. This will create a memory hem.
7.5Place the Pocket at the pattern marking. Pin the two short sides and the bottom edge.
NOTE – Leave the top edge unpinned.
7.6Topstitch using ⅛ inch seam allowance from the folded edge.
TIP – Stitch forwards and back at the top edges and corners to strengthen your Pocket.
If you are adding a second Pocket (either the Top or Bottom), repeat steps 7.1 to 7.6.
If you have stitched a Bottom Pocket and would like to add Slat Pockets, follow step 7.7. If you have finished your Pockets, skip to step 8.
7.7Bottom Pocket OPTIONAL Slat Pockets: To create additional slat pockets, mark as desired and stitch from the top edge to the bottom edge.
8 . Finishing8.1You are going to thread the Tie up through one channel and back through the other channel.
Find and mark the center of the Tie and the Apron.
Insert a safety pin onto one side of the Tie. Insert this into the channel out through the opening at the neckline. Pull the Tie until the centers match.
Then thread back through the top opening of the channel, leaving the same distance on the Tie on either end that will wrap around your neck.

Materials and ToolsFabric – You can use any light to medium weight woven fabric e.g. cottons, canvas, denim, linen.

- OPTIONAL Ties – You can use 1-inch wide webbing/tape for the Ties instead of sewing them using the pattern pieces. Examples are cotton herringbone tape or webbing.
- Thread to match
Tools needed are, sewing machine, pins, scissors, tape measure or ruler. Serger/overlocker is optional but not required.
