- +Preparation
- Sizing – Sizing is different in different countries and stores, so please measure your model before picking your size. The ready-to-wear size your model normally fits into may be different from our size chart.
- Picking your size – Choose your size from the waist measurements from the size chart. If your waist falls into a different size than your hip size, you will need to grade the waist. Print both sizes, gently curving from your hip size at the bottom of the pattern piece to your size for the waist. This will ensure the Wrap Skirt fit properly around both the hips and the waist.
- Height – The height for each size range is indicated in the size chart above. Everybody varies in their proportions. Some children may have a longer torso or longer legs than how this pattern has been drafted. We highly recommend a muslin for any fitted pant pattern (see below) to adjust to your personal body.
- Muslin – I recommend you sew a muslin (test garment) first so you can get the perfect fit:
- Use an inexpensive chiffon/mesh fabric similar in weight and stretch to the final fabric you plan to use.
- Baste all the pieces together using a ⅜ inch seam allowance.
- Try on. If you are happy with the fit, continue to your final garment.
- If you feel the fit needs adjusting for your personal shape, turn the muslin inside out and try on again. Adjust the seams with pins/clips until you are happy.
- Trim your new seam allowances to ⅜ of an inch and pull out your basting stitches.
- These resulting pieces are your pattern pieces instead of the original pattern pieces. Continue to sew your final garment.
- Make sure to keep your adjusted pattern pieces in case you wish to make more!

This beautiful flowing wrap skirt is cut as a semi-circle without any side seams. The waist is bound and is fastened together with a hook and eye. It has a dipped hem with two length options: mid-thigh or above knee.

Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Materials and ToolsFabric – This skirt is designed for a soft drapey fabric that doesn’t need hemming. A chiffon, power mesh or polyester mesh will create a lovely flowy look.

Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.

Cutting Checklist:
NOTE – To cut fabric on the fold, fold your fabric over parallel to the selvage edges. Align the pattern piece so it is on the fold of the fabric. Cut around the edges, leaving the fold. If you have folded your fabric correctly the fold will be parallel to the two edges of the fabric that are finished. The raw edges will be at a right angle to your fold.

- OVERLOCK / ZIG ZAG STITCH HEM OPTION – Overlock or zig zag stitch hem.
- ROLLED HEM OPTION – Stitch a rolled hem. Press.
- SKIRT – Press Binding in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Lay Skirt wrong side up. Place Binding onto waist edge, right side to wrong side, matching raw edges, leaving a 1 inch tail on either end. Stitch. Press seam allowance up. Fold Binding over to enclose raw edges. Pin. Topstitch. Fold tail in half twice. Stitch. Repeat on other side.
- HOOK & EYE – Hand stitch a hook on inside of Binding on front right and outside on front left, close to folded edge and centered. Try Skirt on. Stitch where eyes will meet hooks on outside of Binding on front left and inside of Binding on front right.

Sewing –
1 . Overlock / Zig Zag Stitch Hem OPTIONSeam Allowance

1.0If you are sewing a rolled hem, skip to step 2. If you are finishing your hem with an overlock or zig zags stitch, follow below.
1.1Overlock or zig zag stitch the hem edge of the Skirt.
2 . Rolled Hem OPTION2.0A rolled hem is better suited for delicate fabrics such as silk, rayon, and satin, which can be tricky if hemming using a regular method. If you have already finished the hem of your skirt, skip to step 3. If you are sewing a rolled hem, follow below.
SERGER / OVERLOCKER OPTION – Refer to your machine’s manual on how to stitch a rolled hem. Most sergers are equipped with a rolled and narrow hem function. Then, skip to step 3.
REGULAR SEWING MACHINE OPTION – You will need a rolled hem foot for this step.
TIP – Practice these steps on a piece of scrap fabric before hemming your skirt.
2.1Put the rolled hem foot onto your machine.
NOTE – You can use a straight stitch, zigzag stitch, or decorative stitch (scallops) rolled hem. The steps are the same, the results would be stunning either way.
2.2Starting with the wrong side of the top edge of the Skirt (and without feeding the fabric through the roll of the presser foot), baste using a ¼ inch seam allowance for a width of ½ inch only.
NOTE – Do not trim off the excess threads that hang off the start of these stitches. This step is essential as the tails will provide a “handle” for us to feed the fabric into the presser foot in the next step.
2.3Raise the presser foot and run the thread through the swirl of the presser foot, using it as a guide for the fabric to go into the presser foot.
NOTE – The fabric just outside of the presser foot will start to curve upwards slightly. This is what will create the fold under as the fabric is hemmed.
2.4Lower the presser foot and begin stitching. Guide the fabric into the swirl of the presser foot by curving the raw edge of the fabric about ¼ inches over. Pull the fabric coming out at the other end taut. This creates some tension across the hem being sewn, which ensures the fabric is being fed through evenly.
Continue stitching the rolled hem from the top of the Front Leg to the top of the Back Leg.
Tip – Take your time to sew your rolled hem. The results will be well worth the time.
2.5Press the seams flat.
TIP – The curves of the hem may curl up. Use the steam function on your iron to flatten the hem.
3 . Skirt3.1Fold the Binding in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Press.
3.2Lay the Skirt wrong side facing up. Place the Binding onto the waist edge, right side to wrong side of Skirt, matching raw edges, leaving a 1 inch tail on either end. Pin.
3.3Serge or stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance.
Trim seam allowance approximately in half.
3.4Press the seam allowance up and away from the Skirt.
3.5Fold the Binding in half again so that the folded edge overlaps the seam allowance, enclosing the raw edges. Pin.
3.6From the right side, topstitch ⅛ inch from the folded edge, using a twin needle, or a medium size zig zag stitch or a stretch stitch.
3.7Take the tail on one side and fold it in half.
3.8Fold in half again. Pin. Press.
3.9Stitch across the Binding to secure it.
TIP – It may be difficult to stitch through the binding. If you find it a struggle, try one of the following: lengthening your stitch, using the handwheel on your sewing machine rather than the foot pedal, using a larger stretch needle or using a wedge to lift the presser foot up before placing the fabric under the presser foot.
3.10Repeat steps 1.8 to 1.10 for the tail on the other side.
4 . Hook & Eye4.1Thread a needle with a matching thread.
4.2Hand stitch a hook on the inside of the Binding on the front right and the outside on the front left, close to the folded edge and centered.
TIP – Before stitching the hook on, measure your hook and eye then place the hook that far onto the binding so eye will not be seen once sewn on.
4.3Try the Skirt on. Mark where you need the eyes to meet the hooks for the best fit. You will need an eye on the outside of the Binding on the front left and an eye on the inside of the Binding on the front right.
Hand sew the eyes in place.
