- Ease – This is a very loose fit top. It should fit the body well at the top edge around the decollate and the upper back, then come outwards and be loose fitting at the hem. Make sure to check the fabric suggestions in the next section to ensure your fabric looks how you like. With so much volume in the hem area, fabric selection is key to getting the drape and look you prefer.
- Sizing – Sizing is different in different countries and stores, so please measure your model before picking your size. The ready-to-wear size your model normally fits into may be different from our size chart.
- Picking your size – When picking your size, if you fall between sizes, go for the size with the correct bust measurement. That way the top part is likely to fit well. Then, grade out or in to the correct waist and hip size.
- Length – The longer of the two tops is designed to finish at the top of the hipbone. This makes it shorter than many other top designs, and most definitely shorter than tunic length tops. It looks amazing worn loose over skirts, shorts, and trousers, however, you will find it is unlikely to tuck into the top of shorts or pants. The shorter of the two tops is designed to finish around or just under the bellybutton. For most sizes, this gives it a crop type appearance.
- If you wish to have either top longer, lengthen the pattern by extending it down at the hem, following the side seam line outwards so it continues to get wider. This will keep the shape the same along the bodice and just make it longer at the hemline.
- If you wish to have either top shorter, I would recommend cutting and sewing the top as is, then try it on and cut to your preferred length at step 5, leaving 1 inch for hemming.
- Height – Child heights are in the size chart above.
- If you are shorter than your size range, check the strap length and shorten these as desired to lift the top up, then shorten the hemline as suggested above.
- If you are taller than your size range, cut your straps 1 inch longer than on the cutting chart and pattern pieces. Then, adjust them to fit when sewing. Add the additional top length required at the hemline as above.
- Muslin – To get a perfect fit, make a muslin (test garment) out of practice / old fabric to see if you want to make any fit adjustments.
- If you get stuck with fitting, see our favorite resources on our Pinterest Sewing Fitting Advice board.
- Any light or medium weight woven fabric will work.
- A fabric with drape (such as chiffon, georgette, rayon or crepe de chine) will give a softer look to the blouse.
- A fabric with more body (such as a quilting cotton, linen or taffeta) will give more structure to the blouse.
- Fabrics like rayon challis can also be cut on the bias to give more drape.
- Remember when picking your fabric that the hemline is loose and voluminous. A fabric with drape will give beautiful folds and movement. A fabric without drape that is stiffer will look boxier and more oversized. Fabric choice is key for this design to get the look you’re aiming for.
- Thread to match
- Front – Cut 1 on fold
- Back – Cut 1 on fold
- Front – Cut 1 on fold
- Back – Cut 1 on fold
- Strap – Cut 2 (1 per shoulder), or 4 (2 per shoulder)
Project OverviewChloe Cami
Difficulty Level = Beginner
This beautiful flowing top is perfect for wearing loose over jeans, trousers, skirts, or shorts! Layer with a cardigan for winter, or on its own in summer. Easily lengthened as a tunic or shortened as a crop top. There are two strap lengths. You can mix or match any of them for different looks. You can have one or two straps on each shoulder, and they can either go straight over the shoulder or be crossed to the opposite shoulder at the back.
The top is two layers and comes with two different lengths. The shorter length is a crop length, the longer length comes to the top of the hip bone. Either have both the longer length, both the shorter length or cut one of each for a layered look. Mix and match the options for the exact look you want!
Our Facebook group is a great place to get help, share your tips and creations! We are a friendly bunch, and we love to help and see what you have made.
Please read the full instructions before getting started.
Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.
Please follow this video for information and assistance on assembling this pattern.
Also, please note that some Rebecca Page patterns and projects also come with cut files and a printable design page which you can use to plan your project if you wish. These are provided in a separate section below to avoid any confusion!

Seam allowances are all included so just cut them as is.
The instructions on the pattern pieces will have you cut a layered top (one short top, with a longer top underneath), with one straight strap going over each shoulder, and one longer strap crossing over at the back. However, you can mix and match these according to your preference. Read below for details.
Tops – You will need two complete tops, each with a front and back. There are two lengths of top included. The shorter top is approximately crop length. The longer top is approximately hip bone length. Decide now if you want two short tops, two long tops or a layered look with one short and one long. You should cut 2x fronts and 2x backs of the length/s you want. The two tops will be layered one on top of the other. The one on top we will call the ‘Outer Layer’, the one underneath we will call the ‘Inner Layer’.
Straps – There are 2 strap lengths included. The shorter one goes straight over the shoulder. The longer one crosses diagonally from front to back. You can have one or two straps per shoulder. For stability, you need one straight strap per shoulder. But you can add a crossed strap. Decide now if you want one or two straps per shoulder, and if you want them to be straight (short strap) or one of each (one short and one long per shoulder).
The strap pattern pieces are included, however, if you prefer to cut using a cutting chart, they are rectangular and dimensions for them (in INCHES) are below:

Cutting Checklist:
Outer Layer (can be cut using the ‘Short’ or ‘Long’ pattern pieces)
Inner Layer (can be cut using the ‘Short’ or ‘Long’ pattern pieces)
Straps (can be cut using the ‘Short’ or ‘Long’ pattern pieces)
NOTE – To cut fabric on the fold, fold your fabric over parallel to the selvage edges. Align the pattern piece so it is on the fold of the fabric. Cut around the edges, leaving the fold. If you have folded your fabric correctly the fold will be parallel to the two edges of the fabric that are finished. The raw edges (e.g. the ones you could pick at and threads would come off) will be at a right angle to your fold.
- + Instructions
- STAY STITCH – Stay stitch your Front neckline, Back neckline and all armscye edges.
- SIDE SEAMS – Serge or French seam the side seams for each layer of top.
- STRAPS – Fold each strap in half right sides together and sew along the raw long edge. Trim the bulk, turn, and press.
- ATTACHING FRONT STRAPS – Baste in place on the front of the top, right side out. Pin or clip the ends out of the way. Slip the outer layer inside the inner layer, both with right sides facing out, sew around the top edge. Trim the bulk from the raw edge and clip curves. Turn your garment right sides out, press and sew ¼ inch from edge, enclosing previous seam.
- ATTACHING BACK STRAPS – Trim end of Straps, fold ¼ inch and press. Pin or clip to inside of top Back. Try on to check length. Sew a square at the end of the Strap to attach. Choose the style to attach the longer Straps.
- HEM – Press hem ½ inch, turn another ½ inch, press, and topstitch close.

½ inch seam allowance included (¼ then ¼ for French seams) – Top stitching ⅛ inch – Basting ¼ inch
0.1Stay Stitching
We are going to add stay stitching along the top curved edges of your bodice. This will help stabilize the curves that end up on the bias and tend to stretch out while you are working with the pieces.
To do this, start at the center of your Front neckline. Using a straight stitch, sew at ⅛ inch from edge to the left Strap attachment.
Repeat this from center to your right Strap attachment.
Starting at the side seam, sew at ⅛ inch along the armscye to your left Strap attachment. Repeat this on your right side.
Repeat all four of these stay stitch sets for your second Front bodice and both Back bodice pieces.
1 . Side Seams1.1We are going to do French seams. The reason we will be doing French seams is because it hides all the raw edges and gives a much cleaner finish. If you haven’t done these before, don’t worry, all the steps are below so you can just follow along.
With wrong sides of the fabric together, place the Front and Back pieces of your outer layer together and pin the side seams, ensuring the raw edges are lined up.
Stitch ¼ from the edge.
1.2Carefully trim the seam allowance in half so the raw edge is clean and doesn’t have any uneven threads.
NOTE – You are trimming here so that when you encase the seam in the next step all the threads and raw edges are hidden. I generally try to trim my seam allowance in half as I like to make sure absolutely nothing is sticking out. However, just neatening up the edge here will also work.
1.3Turn the garment so the right sides are facing and press the side seam.
Pin and stitch again approximately ¼ inch from the edge. This will encase the raw edges so you can’t see them (a French seam).
TIP – Press the seam allowances to the side before turning the garment inside out. This makes it much easier to pinch the seam flat to get a nice crisp edge to your French seam. It also makes the seam allowance sit flat and stay as accurate as possible.
Press the seam allowance towards the Back.
Repeat for inner layer of top.
2 . Straps2.1Fold the Strap piece in half along the long side, right sides together.
Sew long side.
Clip corners.
2.2Use your favorite method to turn Strap right side out.
Here we show how to do this using a bobby pin.
Clip a small hole into the folded side of the Strap. Slide your bobby pin into the hole.
2.3Turn the bobby pin into the tube, catching the slipped portion of your Strap in the pin.
Pull the bobby pin all the way through the tube, flipping the Strap right side out in the process.
2.4Press Strap flat, centering the seam along one edge as well as possible.
Repeat for all Strap pieces.
3 . Attaching Front Straps3.1Starting on the front of the top, lay the outer layer right side out.
If you are doing two shoulder Straps, center the raw edges of one Strap along the top edge of the shoulder. Align second Strap directly on top of first.
3.2Baste in place.
If you are doing one shoulder Strap only, center the raw edge along the top edge of the shoulder. Repeat to attach the other shoulder Strap on the other Front shoulder. Skip to step 3.3.
Repeat steps 3.1 to 3.2 for second set of Straps on the other Front shoulder.
3.3Pin or clip the ends out of the way for the next step.
3.4Slip the outer layer inside the inner layer, both with right sides facing out.
The right side of your outer layer should be facing the wrong side of your inner layer.
Using a ½ inch seam allowance, sew around the top edge. As you sew over the Straps, leave your needle down, lift your pressure foot and turn your top to get nice crisp lines along the top of the Straps.
3.5Trim seam allowance and clip curves.
3.6Turn your garment so the outer layer is on top and the Straps are sticking out.
Press along top edge.
3.7Stitch along top, ¼ inch from edge, enclosing previous seam.
4 . Attaching Back Straps4.1For each short Strap, follow the below steps:
Trim end of Straps to remove any loose strings.
FIT CHECK – Try the top on and check the Strap lengths. Allow ¾ inch to attach the Straps to the top. Adjust and trim Straps, as necessary.
Fold the ends over ¼ inch and press.
Align each of your Straps inside the back of the top and pin or clip in place.
4.2For each short Strap, sew a square at the end of each Strap to attach it, putting down your needle and lifting the pressure foot to turn at each corner.
4.3If you are adding the longer Straps, now choose where you’d like to attach them!
Wherever you choose to attach them, repeat steps 4.1 to 4.2 to attach them in your desired location.
They can attach directly over the previous Straps or anywhere along the Back neckline.
5 . Hem5.1Press hem of outer layer under ½ inch.
OPTIONAL – If you prefer, you can choose to do a rolled hem here.
5.2Turn hem under another ½ inch and press again.
5.3Topstitch close to first fold line.
5.4Repeat steps 5.1 to 5.3 for inner layer.

Materials and ToolsYou will need light to medium weight woven fabric for this pattern:
