Our Facebook group is a great place to get help, share your tips and creations! We are a friendly bunch, and we love to help and see what you have made.
Please read the full instructions before getting started.
Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.
Please follow this video for information and assistance on assembling this pattern.
Also, please note that some Rebecca Page patterns and projects also come with cut files and a printable design page which you can use to plan your project if you wish. These are provided in a separate section below to avoid any confusion!

Cutting checklist:
NOTE – To cut fabric on the fold, fold your fabric over parallel to the selvage edges. Align the pattern piece so it is on the fold of the fabric. Cut around the edges, leaving the fold. If you have folded your fabric correctly the fold will be parallel to the two edges of the fabric that are finished. The raw edges (e.g. the ones you could pick at and threads would come off) will be at a right angle to your fold.
- + Instructions
- INTERFACING – Iron interfacing onto Main Bag, Main Back and Main Side pieces
- SIDE POCKETS – Open up a Side Pocket Bias Tape piece. Stitch onto one short edge of the Side Pocket, right sides together. Fold over raw edge and edge stitch. Press opposite short edge ⅛ inch to wrong side. Baste. Gather until it is 2.5 inches wide. Thread elastic through the bias tape. Stitch elastic either side. Repeat for the second Side Pocket. Lay the Main Side right sides facing up. Measure 7 inches from one short side. Place a Side Pocket right sides facing up, matching the bottom gathered edge to that measurement. Pin the long raw edges of the Side Pocket, and the gathered bottom edge. Stitch. Trim excess tape. Repeat to attach second Side Pocket to the other side of the Main Side piece, measuring 7 inches from the opposite short edge.
- ATTACHING SIDE TO BAG – Lay Main Bag right side facing up. Place Main Side right side facing down. Starting at the top edge of the Main Bag, pin Main Side along outer edges. Stitch. Repeat with the Bag Lining and Side Lining pieces. Repeat to attach the second Bag Lining piece to the other side of Side Lining.
- FRONT FLAP – Lay Main Back right sides facing up. Place Front Flap, right sides down, matching bottom edges. Stitch along the sides and bottom. Clip curves. Turn right side out. Press. OPTIONAL Bias Tape: Starting approximately ½ inch away from the raw edge of the Front Flap, stitch the bias tape onto the Front Flap edges. Repeat placing the Main Side onto the Main Back (side without the bias tape), right sides together. Starting at the top edge of the Main Bag, pin the Main Side along the outer edges.
- STRAP – Fold Strap in half lengthwise, right sides together. Press. Stitch open long edge. Turn Strap right side out. Press. Place Strap onto Main Side, matching raw edges, right sides together, centering the Strap. Stitch. Repeat to attach the other side of the Strap to the other Side piece.

0.1Interfacing
Using the manufacturer’s instructions, iron interfacing onto the Main Bag, Main Back and Main Side pieces.
1 . Side Pockets1.1Open up a Side Pocket Bias Tape piece. Place it onto one short edge of the Side Pocket, right sides together. Pin.
Stitch in place by stitching along the fold on the bias tape.
1.2Fold the bias over the raw edge to enclose it. Pin.
Edge stitch along the bias.
1.3Fold the opposite short edge of the Side Pocket ⅛ inch to the wrong side. Press.
1.4Baste using a ⅛ seam allowance.
TIP – Basting is just like normal stitching except the stitches need to be long and loose so that they can be removed later, if needed. Stitch within the seam allowance, so that the basting stitches are not seen in the final garment, while keeping the stitches loose enough to pull out just in case they are visible. The purpose is to hold a piece of fabric in place until that section is properly sewn. Set the machine to a long loose stitch. Test it on a piece of fabric first to make sure that the stitches can easily be removed. Do not backstitch at either end. Leave the ends loose, with approximately 1 inch of thread tails at either end of the stitching.
TIP – Use a different colored top thread to the bobbin thread. That way they are easy to differentiate when gathering. Also, it is a great way to use up all those left-over bobbin threads!
1.5Starting at one end, find the bobbin thread and gently pull on it to gather the Pocket.
Gather all the way across the Side Pocket until it is 2.5 inches wide.
1.6Using a safety pin (or whatever your preferred method is), thread the elastic through the bias tape at the top of the Pocket.
Pin in place at either end.
1.7Stitch the elastic at either side, using ⅛ inch seam allowance.
Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.6 for the second Side Pocket.
1.8Lay the Main Side right sides facing up. Measure 7 inches from one short side. Place a Side Pocket right sides facing up, matching the bottom gathered edge to that measurement.
Pin the long raw edges of the Side Pocket, and the gathered bottom edge.
Stitch using ⅛ inch seam allowance.
Trim any excess bias tape on either side of the Pocket.
1.9Repeat step 1.8 to attach the second Side Pocket to the other side of the Main Side piece, measuring 7 inches from the opposite short edge.
NOTE – Check you are attaching the Side Pockets in opposite directions. The Side piece will curve down one side and back up the other side of the bag. The top edges of the Side Pocket (with bias tape) will be closer to the short straight edges.
2 . Attaching Side to Bag2.1Lay the Main Bag right side facing up. Place the Main Side right side facing down. Starting at the top edge of the Main Bag, pin the Main Side along the outer edges. You will need to manipulate the fabric of the Main Side at the rounded corners in order. Pin.
NOTE – Your Pockets will be sandwiched in between the Main Bag and the Main Side.
2.2Stitch using ¼ inch seam allowance.
2.3Repeat steps 2.1 to 2.2 with the Bag Lining and Side Lining pieces.
TIP – If you would like to add a label on the inside of your bag (e.g. a child’s name tag, or your label for selling), stitch this now to the top center of one Bag Lining about 1 inch from the top.
Repeat steps 2.1 to 2.2 to attach the second Bag Lining piece to the other side of Side Lining.
This should now form the inside of the bag. It should be like a little pouch with the seams facing outwards.
3 . Front Flap3.1Lay the Main Back right sides facing up. Place the Front Flap, right sides down, matching bottom edges. Pin along the sides and bottom.
Stitch using ¼ inch seam allowance.
Clip into the seam allowance along the curves.
3.2Turn right side out, pushing out the corners. Press.
TIP – Push out the corners with a blunt object, like a chopstick, so that there are crisp, sharp edges and corners.
3.3OPTIONAL Bias Tape: Starting approximately ½ inch away from the raw edge of the Front Flap, stitch the bias tape onto the Front Flap edges, as per steps 1.1 to 1.2.
3.4Repeat steps 2.1 to 2.2, placing the Main Side onto the Main Back (side without the bias tape), right sides together. Starting at the top edge of the Main Bag, pin the Main Side along the outer edges. You will need to manipulate the fabric of the Main Side at the rounded corners in order. Pin.
NOTE – The image shows the wrong side of the Main Back.
4 . Strap4.1Fold the Strap in half lengthwise, right sides together. Press.
Stitch the open long edge, using a ¼ inch seam allowance.
4.2There are several ways to turn the Strap right side out. If you have a preferred method you are more familiar with, please use this. Alternatively, here is how I like to do it with a loop turner.
Insert the loop turner inside the belt tube until it reaches the other end. Perforate the fabric with the little clasp and push it to close the hook. Pull the loop turner back inside very delicately. While pulling the loop turner inside, smooth the fabric upwards towards the top of the hook and roll the fabric on itself inside the tube so it is wrong sides together. Continue to roll until you’ve turned the tube right side out completely.
Roll the seam between your fingers so that it lays flat. Press with the seam in the middle of the strap.
4.3Place the Strap onto the Main Side, matching raw edges, right sides together, centering the Strap. Pin.
Stitch across the Strap, using a zigzag stitch.
Repeat to attach the other side of the Strap to the other Side piece.
5 . Finishing the Bag5.1Turn the Bag inside out. Turn the Lining of the bag right side out.
Place the Lining inside the Bag, right sides together. Pin together along the top edges.
NOTE – Make sure that the Straps are laying flat.
Stitch along the two sides and front edge, leaving ¼ inch unstitched at the start and finish. You will turn the Bag through the gap between the back of the Main and Lining.
5.2Turn the Bag right side out.
Fold the back of the Lining ¼ inch to the wrong side. Press.
Hand stitch the top of the Lining to the main piece. Alternatively, edge stitch using a machine.
